Abra Garfield

Abra GarfieldAbraham Garfield, BSc (Hon), MPsych (sport and exercise), MAPS.

In my work with sport and exercise clients and in general psychology, I incorporate evidence supported mindfulness techniques within the therapeutic framework of both Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness-based therapies such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Mindfulness Acceptance Commitment Approach (MAC), Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), and Mindfulness-based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).

These techniques are versatile and effective in reducing symptoms such as worry, anxiety, obsession, tension, depression, sleep problems, and other related difficulties through helping people master a new way of thinking. There is an immediate positive effect as well as long-term gains in life balance and mental health.

Mindfulness techniques can be used with people of all ages. Cultivating mindfulness can benefit anyone, from a professional athlete managing performance anxiety or pre-event sleep issues, to the corporate executive struggling to manage stress, or anyone who wishes to improve his or her attentional skills and achieve their life goals.

I provide one-on-one therapy, life and career coaching, sport and exercise psychology services, and education programs and seminars on mindfulness, and have worked as an Approved Provider with the Queensland Academy of Sport. I see clients at Loganholme, Brisbane, and I am also available on the Gold Coast.

If you are looking for assistance with resource development for Mindfulness techniques training programs and information packs for your group or organisation, why not ask about some training on how to integrate mindfulness techniques into daily life for biggest gains: one, four, and eight session programs are available.

I am an endorsed Sport and Performance Psychologist, and founder of Summit Performance Psychology. Visit the Summit Performance Psychology website to learn more or like us on Facebook to receive Summit Performance Psychology Articles and event updates.
